Baščaršija  the word “Baš-čaršija” exactly means “the main carsija” and it signifies the area of the Bascarsija Mart around Sebilj. Afterwards the name Bascarsija was expanded to todays whole Sarajevos old “carsija”. It was formed durring mid of fifteenth century as a economical part of new oriental type of the city whose facilities have a urban frame to itself and have been raised with resources from Isa- Beg Vakuf.
